Overview
The KZJ77 is one of the most refined vintage Land Cruisers in the 70-series lineage and extremely difficult to find. We routinely see the KZ77 LHD European models listed for over 30,000 Euros with major rust issues. A chance like this does not come to market often! A coil sprung radius arm suspension was a huge step over leaf springs, and they had a number of unique features added to the interior, such as the “active comfort” suspension seats. They’re also set up for three row comfort for seven to eight people, despite being a little shorter and more compact than the typical long-wheelbase Troopy. And then you stack a turbocharged 3.0L 1KZ-T 3.0L diesel with a five-speed R150F manual behind it, with Toyota’s venerable two-speed VF2A transfer case, and you’ve got a bulletproof platform for a build.
This particular KZJ77 was just awoken from long term storage. We did a quick 30 point inspection of the systems to make sure the Land Cruiser starts, drives, has functional AC and stops. The service work totaled over $5K and included rebuilding the turbo, AC system, changed the oil, fuel filter, drained and flushed the fuel system. The techs in our shop also diagnosed the blinkers, tail lights, horn, headlamps, and removed an aftermarket alarm system to make sure all were working properly. We replaced a few lug nuts, the battery, battery hold down, installed new battery cables, and repaired the front seat mounts. The power windows are not currently working and we did not dive into making the repairs. Other known defects are the key only starts the vehicle and unlocks the rear cargo door, it does not work on the driver or passenger doors. The team has been driving this Land Cruiser but we recommend doing a full mechanical review prior to daily driving or any long distance road trips. Contact us for an inspection report and service history.
The body is finished in a shade similar to the factory Dark Emerald Pearl (Code 6M1) but appears to be without the pearl in the paint. It is in good shape all around with a respray in the past. Our walk around video has an in-depth analysis of the paint and quality. The interior is clean and rather tidy for a 32 year old Cruiser but does show wear in places.

Underneath is more of the same, overall good condition with no obvious signs of past accident repair. This 70 Series runs the 8-inch diffs with 4.556:1 gears and a limited slip, according to its G975 axle code. Also unique to the Euro-spec versions is that the 1KZ-T is non-EGR with a mechanical injection pump, eliminating a potential failure point from an aging ECU or emissions system.
We’ve had requests in the past to offer one of these rare Land Cruisers at the best price possible, and now’s your chance to pick one out of our lot before we did a complete reconditioning. A nice driver quality Cruiser that will need some more love before making it a daily driver or road trip warrior.
