Extremely Well Documented
Rearward Facing Cargo Third Row Seats
We purchased this Benz from the second owner in upstate South Carolina. He was an enthusiast with too many German cars and not enough time for all of them (sound familiar?)! Car Cave purchased it due to a rust-free body, plenty of records, two caring owners, and our love for old school diesels. This Benz has a stack of records proving going back to the original purchase documentation. After bringing it back to the Cave we completed a round of mechanical reconditioning totaling over $7k. We wanted to leave the original paint and new coil overs the previous owner installed. The first owner lived in Jacksonville, Florida – so this car has always lived in the south.
The interior is clad in MB TEX upholstery, a Mercedes Benz created textile that acts as a substitute for leather, in the color Palomino (MB Color 174A). The exterior retains the original Smoke Silver Metallic (MB color 702U) paint. This Wagon model has seven seats – two up front, three in the rear, and two fold-up jump seats that emerge from the spacious trunk. A sunroof over the front row, also included, was pretty standard in these nicely spec’d Mercedes.
Purchased in June 1987 from Gregg Motor Cars, Inc in Jacksonville Florida (another name for the Brumos Racing Porsche and Mercedes dealership) by Mr. Bollinger, this vehicle was clearly a beloved family heirloom. Regular oil changes were performed in Florida until 2005, when it seems the vehicle was retired to a show vehicle. Until 1999, all work was completed at Brumos Motor Cars Inc. In 2006, the vehicle was given as a present to Mr. Bollinger’s daughter, who brought it to North Carolina and kept records until 2016 when the vehicle was sold to Mr. Daniels in South Carolina. Mr Daniels was an enthusiast who did all of his own work. This vehicle is extremely well documented, and the prodigious amount of love and time lavished on the vehicle is evident.
Car Cave went over the vehicle and performed maintenance worth over $7,000, including replacing the headlights, turn signal bulbs, hatch pistons, and antenna, rebuilt the gauge cluster, reinstalled door trim, air conditioning, power windows, stabilizer bar link and coil over shocks. The previous owner was an enthusiast who only used parts from the top suppliers (FCP Euro, Pelican, Mercedes, etc.), and who saved all service records, dating back to June 1987. The full list of service work is available upon request.
Other little details elevate the experience, including functional power front seats, power windows and locks, sun visors with mirrors and lights built in, faux wood paneling on the center console, the front foldable armrest, and the original carpeted floor mats. The center dash has a cassette player, an AM/FM radio, and a fold-out ashtray. The vehicle is crowned with a roof rack and shod in Sumitomo HTR Enhance LXZ tires 195/65R15. The original Gullideckel wheels have been replaced with a black set of Mercedes OEM 15” 8 Hole (8-Loch) allow wheels finished with black center caps and contrasting new metal wheel studs. The same iconic logo stands out on the hood of the vehicle, above the headlights adorned with wipers.
These luxurious features, paired with the iconic 6-cylinder 3.0L Turbodiesel engine, brings elegance and excitement to this classic wagon. Whether you’re looking for a trip down memory lane or a sporty ride for your entourage, this Mercedes Benz is perfect for you.
