Recent refurbishment

A refurbishment that retains the feel of OEM Land Rovers, this 1989 Defender 90 features a 3.5L V8 gas engine. Purchased from a Ms. Wendy from the Flanders region of Belgium in 2024, we like the look of this Defender just as much as we like what’s under the hood. The black roof, hood, fender flares and rear door to complement the completely white body, while Alpine windows blend into the roof above sliding rear windows.

BF Goodrich All-Terrain T/A LT235/85R16 tires sit on steel wheels, and Land Rover mudflaps keep mud and rocks tamed in the rear. The full-sized spare is situated on the rear door, right above the tow hitch. A rear step provides easy access to the rear compartment, where you can seat four passengers or store all the gear you’ll need for an expedition into the back country.

Three ride up front on the black Exmoor trim bucket seats and middle seat. The front floor has been recarpeted in black carpet, which is additionally protected by carpeted floor mats, while the floor of the rear compartment is protected by black rubber. A Pioneer head unit with USB and AM/FM capacity features on the dashboard, with complementing Pioneer speakers on the underdash. The speedometer is equipped with MPH and KPH – a great quality of life upgrade, especially when driving this European vehicle down American roads. An analog clock sits below an ash tray on the very “Defender” dashboard, a nostalgic, utilitarian design choice that brings us right back to the 90’s.

In 2025, Car Cave Belgium installed a new gas tank, removed the bulkhead and installed a new bar, and installed new seatbelts. Upon its arrival in Aiken, Car Cave USA completed some simple maintenance, including installing a rear door panel, reviewing the brakes, and fixing a window rattle.
